Modes starting on C major scale degrees and starting on C
Ionian Dorian Phrygian Lydian Mixolydian Aeolian Locrian -
Certain modes are more like a minor scale than a major scale:
- Aeolian has the same structure as a natural minor scale
- Dorian is like a natural minor scale with the 6th note sharpened
- Phrygian is like a natural minor scale with the 2nd note lowered
Locrian is rare and it doesn't exist in exercises below
- Locrian is like a natural minor scale with the 2nd nad 5th note lowered
