A triad can be built on each note of a major scale.
For example in C major:
Another example: In G major V degree triad is built on D (5th note of G major scale). The notes of the chord are D-F#-A.
Chord labeling
- Major: Root note, for example C.
- Minor: Root and m, for example Cm
- Diminished: Root and dim, for example Cdim
- Augmented: Root and +, for example C+
There's also many other symbols but in this course symbols above aree used.
In major key, there's several major and minor triads and dim on 7th degree.

A triad can be built on each note of a minor scale. The most common is the harmonic minor.
An example in harmonic A minor (7th note is raised G#):
