  • A triad can be built on each note of a major scale.

    For example in C major:


    Another example: In G major V degree triad is built on D (5th note of G major scale). The notes of the chord are D-F#-A.

    Chord labeling

    • Major: Root note, for example C.
    • Minor: Root and m, for example Cm
    • Diminished: Root and dim,  for example Cdim
    • Augmented: Root and +,  for example C+

    There's also many other symbols but in this course symbols above aree used.

    In major key, there's several major and minor triads and dim on 7th degree.
